What I Wish I Knew Before Shoulder Surgery

A common thing people think about with surgeries: what are some of the things I wish I had known before surgery?

I can tell you with many of the procedures we do, especially shoulder replacements, where someone has had arthritis for many years and has been dealing with this nagging pain in their shoulder, and they get it replaced. They say they wish they would have done it years ago.

That’s what most of our patients say because the pain relief is very quick, like within a week or two. Then, the final result is a shoulder that moves so much better than what they had before and has so much less pain.

We don’t put restrictions on people after these, either. We let you do whatever you want. So, a lot of our patients, many of them say, I wish I would have done this way sooner. I wish I wouldn’t have waited as long.

You got to go when you’re ready. It’s not something you want to rush into, but I think many people kind of put it off for a long time because they’re worried about the recovery, which is way faster than it used to be. So, most of our patients wish they would have done it sooner.
