How hard is recovery from shoulder replacement? It’s not nearly as bad as people imagine.
We do these as outpatient procedures. They’re quick procedures. We don’t force people to wear slings—I repeat, we don’t force you to wear a sling—we give them one for comfort. You can start using your arm immediately to do all your daily activities. You can drive right after the surgery, and you can just get through your day and do your life with minimal disruption right after the procedure. The pain is not nearly as bad.
Nowadays, as it used to be with all our new techniques and technologies, yes, it’s still surgery. There are some things that you will have to be careful about within the first few months. But in general, you’ll be able to live your life with minimal disruption after this procedure.
