What Are The Red Flags for Neck and Shoulder Pain?

What Are The Red Flags for Neck and Shoulder Pain?

The biggest ones I would say, does it impact your sleep at night? The second thing would be, do you have profound weakness in your arm? Do you notice that you’re significantly weak? The third thing would just be pain that stops you from doing what you want to do.

If any of those three questions are yes, you should come in. If you’re confused, I try to keep it simple. If it hurts to move your shoulder, lift your arm, go behind your back, or rotate your shoulder, that’s a shoulder problem.

If it doesn’t hurt to do that, and you have pain going down here, it’s probably a neck problem.

If you’re not sure, come in to see a shoulder or a neck specialist. They both see the crossover very frequently, and they’ll be able to direct you in which way if you’re not sure. But a neck or shoulder specialist should be able to get to the bottom and quickly and then figure out how to treat it.
