Well, I know this is semantics, but you actually cannot heal a torn rotator cuff naturally.
Once the tendon tears, it’s torn. It’s gone. What you can do is strengthen the other muscles of the shoulder and rebalance the system so that your shoulder no longer has any pain and has full strength in motion. You can create an asymptomatic, pain-free, normal-functioning shoulder even with a tear by strengthening the other muscles.
However, the tendon is still always torn. Anybody that tells you differently that they can fix that, they’re lying to you. It’s not true. If you saw, if you’ve done operations on these, you get it.
We have different knowledge than people who don’t do surgery all the time. But it doesn’t matter. What matters to you as a patient is that your shoulder doesn’t hurt anymore.
Can you make it so your shoulder doesn’t hurt anymore, even though you have a torn cuff without surgery? Absolutely. That’s 50% of patients in our practice.
