Well, pinched nerves within the shoulder joint are very rare. However, you can get them. You can get suprascapular nerve impingement with para labral cysts where you have a torn labrum. That’s relatively uncommon.
What’s way more common is a pinched nerve in your neck radiating down your arm. But often, people think that they have a pinched nerve when they don’t. The best way to figure that out is to see a specialist.
If you’re trying to figure out which specialist to see, the spine or the shoulder specialist, I’ll keep it simple. If it hurts to move your shoulder in any plane and you have pain in your shoulder with use, you should see a shoulder specialist. If it doesn’t hurt to use your arm in any way whatsoever, and you have pain going down your arm, you should see a spine specialist.
