When we’re doing shoulder surgery and reattaching muscles slash tendons, muscles become tendons. We’re reattaching tendons in surgery back down to bones that are torn.
Sometimes, we have to release tendons and reattach them to do shoulder replacements. It typically takes about three months for them to heal hard into bone before we feel comfortable saying, go start stressing this with like vigorous exercise.
Now, you can start moving it right away. You’re not going to damage it that way. But in terms of heavy lifting and getting after it, we want to wait about three months for those muscles to heal, and then we can start to stress and strengthen them.
