In Office Ultrasound

An ultrasound exam can be performed, and a detailed report will be given to any physician that is in need of imaging of the rotator cuff or biceps tendon.

Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound exams do not use ionizing radiation (X-ray). Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show the structure and movement of the body’s internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.

Dr. Kruse offers in office ultrasound diagnostic tests for patients with shoulder injuries, pain or arthritis. An ultrasound can help enhance your patient experience by saving you time and additional costs of expensive imaging studies.

Many patients cannot undergo MRI of the shoulder for various reasons (Pacemaker, claustrophobia, hardware artifact, etc.) In this case, an ultrasound is an excellent alternative to an MRI.

Dr. Kruse also uses ultrasound technology for biologic injections, including PRP ultrasound guided injections. Ultrasound guided injections are a non-operative, outpatient procedure is designed to provide relief for patients with pain in the shoulder from conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and adhesive capsulitis. The technique allows the physician to inject an inflammation-reducing steroid with maximum accuracy.
