Having that therapist there coaching you along as you can do more and more teaches you how to get through the day and do your exercises. It’s going to decrease your pain after surgery and accelerate your recovery.
I believe those two things without a shadow of a doubt. But do you have to go? No.
We can give you some home exercises to do on your own. For very disciplined and incredibly motivated people, that can work for them, and they can have a great outcome. But in general, I think it benefits most patients to have that person there as a guide as they recover.
