Where should I sleep after shoulder surgery? You should sleep in your bed.
I’m sure that makes you very excited to hear that. Most people are like, “What? I thought I had to sleep in a recliner.” So I recommend one or two pillows behind your back, up maybe 30 degrees on the bed, and then one or two underneath your operative arm.
You can come out of your sling, and everything is propped up for the most comfortable position. We all love to sleep in our beds. A big fear patients have after or like going into shoulder surgery is like, “Oh, I’m gonna have to sleep in a recliner for six weeks. That’s gonna be hell.”
I’m here to tell you, hopefully, give you some relief, that we recommend against that in our practice. We can teach you how to sleep in your bed right after the surgery comfortably.
